2018-2019 Outstanding Mentor Award Nominations Due

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS 

Deadline: March 29, 2019
Purpose 
This annual award recognizes faculty members who have given selflessly of their time, knowledge, and energy to guide and support other faculty members (mentees) through the Women’s Faculty Network (WFN) Mentoring Program and other university-based mentoring mechanisms. Click here to view full call for nominations.

Eligibility 

The nominee must be an Associate or Full Professor who has served as a mentor and has not received this award within the past five years. Previous winners include: Evelyn Tiffany-Castiglioni (2012), Sue Geller (2014), Lisa Campbell (2015), Mindy Bergman (2016), Anat Geva (2017), and Patricia Goodson (2018). 

Nomination Packet 

A complete nomination packet should include: 

1. A letter of nomination including the description of the nominee and a statement of worthiness of the nominee that specifically addresses the criteria listed below. 

2. A maximum of three supporting letters, including at least one letter from a mentee of the nominee. 

Criteria 

Applications will be evaluated by the WFN Mentoring Award Committee according to the following four general criteria: 

1. Accessibility and time spent with mentees, including answering questions, reading papers, and periodically reviewing their progress; 

2. Help provided to mentees to establish professional networks at TAMU or in the field; 

3. Support to mentees for the development of key academic talents: research skills, teaching abilities, presentations, grant applications, fellowship opportunities, etc.; 

4. Exhibition of a strong commitment to mentoring in the WFN Mentoring Program or other university-based mechanisms, including serving as a mentor for multiple women faculty members. 

 

Process 

1. A complete nomination packet should be submitted by March 29, 2019 to:

2. The nominations will be reviewed by the WFN Mentoring Award Committee. 

3. The award will be presented to the recipient at the WFN 2019 Spring Luncheon and an announcement will be posted on the WFN website and Facebook page.
